Kurdistan Tourism Board Expands Global Outreach in Madrid

The Kurdistan Region continues to push tourism growth through international engagement and infrastructure expansion. Recently, the Kurdistan Region Tourism Board confirmed participation in a major tourism exhibition in Madrid. Therefore, officials aim to attract investors, tour operators, and foreign visitors.

Moreover, tourism officials explained that the Madrid fair offers strong exposure to European markets. Consequently, the board plans to showcase cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and modern facilities. In addition, representatives will highlight recent improvements across transport, hospitality, and services.

Meanwhile, the tourism sector has recorded significant progress during the past two years. Officials reported the launch of more than 80 tourism-related projects across the region. As a result, these initiatives created around 20,000 direct and indirect jobs. Furthermore, authorities stressed that tourism now plays a growing role in economic diversification.

Additionally, officials revealed that foreign visitors now represent nearly 25 percent of all tourists. Therefore, the board considers international promotion a priority. At the same time, officials aim to extend visitor stays and increase spending. Consequently, planners focus on resorts, eco-tourism, and cultural festivals.

Furthermore, the board highlighted major investments in roads, airports, and public facilities. These upgrades improve access to mountain resorts and historical sites. As a result, tourist satisfaction rates have increased steadily. Likewise, private investors have shown greater confidence in the sector.

Meanwhile, officials emphasized cooperation with local communities. They explained that tourism projects support small businesses and rural development. Therefore, villages benefit from guesthouses, local products, and seasonal employment. In turn, authorities expect balanced growth across urban and rural areas.

In addition, the board plans to present new digital tools in Madrid. These tools promote online booking and multilingual guides. Consequently, international tourists can plan visits more easily. Officials believe technology strengthens competitiveness in global markets.

Moreover, tourism leaders stressed sustainability goals. They pledged to protect natural sites while expanding visitor capacity. Thus, planners focus on regulated development and environmental awareness.

Finally, officials described the Madrid fair as a strategic milestone. They expect new partnerships and long-term cooperation. Therefore, the Kurdistan Region aims to position itself as a safe, diverse, and welcoming destination.
