ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced that the E-Psula digital payment platform has resumed operations after being offline for more than a week due to technical issues.
In an official statement, the government said the problem that caused the service disruption has been resolved. Authorities are now closely monitoring the platform to ensure stability and prevent similar outages in the future.
The technical issue previously prevented many citizens from benefiting from a 20 percent discount on electricity bills. The discount was available through payments made using the E-Psula platform.
Because of the disruption, the KRG decided to extend the discount period until March 24, 2026. The government said the decision aims to compensate citizens who could not use the service during the outage.
Officials also stated that some households may receive the financial support as a credit on their next electricity bill.
The E-Psula platform is the Kurdistan Region’s official digital payment system. It allows residents and businesses to view and pay bills quickly through several digital channels.
The platform was launched in February 2026 by Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. The project is part of the ninth cabinet’s reform agenda.
According to the government, the initiative aims to modernize financial services and expand access to digital banking tools. It also seeks to strengthen financial inclusion and promote digital transformation across the Kurdistan Region.
Authorities say the restoration of the E-Psula platform will allow citizens to resume using the system for bill payments and other digital services.
