Erbil Governor: Over 300 Attacks Targeted Capital in One Month

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw said that more than 300 attacks have targeted the city over the past month, highlighting growing security challenges while reassuring the public about economic stability.

In a statement, Khoshnaw confirmed that the attacks included drones, missiles, and other threats. He noted that some incidents caused casualties and material damage, raising concerns among residents. Moreover, he stressed that security forces responded quickly to most threats. Air defense systems intercepted many of the attacks, which helped reduce the overall impact.

At the same time, Khoshnaw reassured citizens about the situation inside the city. He said markets remain stable despite the security challenges. In addition, the governor confirmed that Erbil has sufficient food reserves. He noted that supplies are secured for up to one year, ensuring that residents will not face shortages.

Furthermore, he emphasized that authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. They have increased coordination between security agencies to prevent further incidents. Khoshnaw also highlighted the resilience of the city. He said institutions have continued to function normally despite repeated attacks.

Meanwhile, officials have taken additional steps to protect key infrastructure. They aim to maintain essential services and public safety. The governor acknowledged the concerns of residents. However, he urged people to remain calm and rely on official information.

The attacks come amid rising regional tensions. Therefore, authorities have placed security forces on high alert across the province. Khoshnaw reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting citizens. He stressed that stability, preparedness, and coordination remain key to overcoming ongoing challenges.
