ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Iran FM Abbas Araghchi has condemned a drone attack targeting the residence of President Nechirvan Barzani, describing the incident as a “terrorist act.”
In a statement, Iran FM Araghchi strongly denounced the attack. He stressed that such actions aim to undermine stability and threaten security in the region. Moreover, he warned that certain actors seek to damage relations between neighboring countries. He said these efforts could increase tensions if not addressed responsibly.
The drone attack targeted the president’s residence in Duhok. Authorities have launched an investigation, while security forces have stepped up measures across key areas.
In addition, Araghchi emphasized the importance of cooperation. He called for joint efforts to confront threats and maintain stability. He also underlined the need to prevent escalation. According to him, dialogue remains essential to resolving tensions and avoiding further conflict.
Officials in the Kurdistan Region have condemned the attack as well. They have called for accountability and urged stronger coordination with Baghdad. Furthermore, regional leaders have expressed concern over rising security threats. They warned that continued attacks could destabilize the area.
At the same time, Araghchi reiterated Iran’s position on regional stability. He stressed that maintaining calm and cooperation benefits all sides. The incident comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East. Therefore, leaders have increasingly emphasized diplomacy and restraint.
