During the 4th Tehran Dialogue Forum, President Nechirvan Barzani delivered a strong message of peace and regional cooperation.
He firmly stated that the Kurdistan Region of Iraq will never become a threat to neighboring Iran.
Speaking in Tehran at the forum hosted by the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), Barzani underscored long-term Kurdistan-Iran security cooperation.
He emphasized the region’s core commitment to stability.
“We will never allow our land to endanger neighboring countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he stressed.
His statement came during a panel attended by diplomats and leaders from over 53 countries and 200 delegations.
Barzani also praised Iran’s crucial role in defeating Daesh (ISIS) during their incursion into Iraq.
He described the cooperation as instrumental in protecting both nations.
Furthermore, Barzani highlighted improved relations since Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Erbil.
He noted visible progress in trade, security, and cultural collaboration.
To advance this progress, Barzani confirmed an upcoming expert-level meeting in Sanandaj, Iran’s Kurdistan provincial capital.
This initiative will support stronger cross-border ties and Kurdistan-Iran security cooperation.
Barzani arrived in Tehran on Saturday evening to join the high-level diplomatic event.
The forum, organized by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to address critical regional and international issues.
Meanwhile, he acknowledged the March 2023 security agreement signed in Baghdad between Iraq and Iran.
This deal required disarmament and relocation of anti-Iran groups based in the Kurdistan Region.
That step significantly boosted trust between both sides and reinforced Kurdistan-Iran security cooperation.
Leaders hope to expand this through coordinated policies, shared intelligence, and mutual respect.
Ultimately, Barzani’s remarks reflect a powerful shift toward diplomacy, development, and unity across the Iraqi-Iranian border.
Regional observers view this as a win for peace and cooperation in the Middle East.
