Duhok Begins Major City Center Renovation

Duhok has started a large-scale renovation plan for its city center and historic bazaar. The project stretches across 15 kilometers and carries a cost of more than 3 billion dinars, equal to around 2.32 million dollars.

The plan includes repairing and reorganizing streets to improve traffic flow and safety. At the same time, sidewalks will be rebuilt to make the area more accessible for pedestrians and visitors. This effort aims to modernize the heart of the city while keeping its traditional character alive.

Another important part of the project is the removal of outdated utility poles that have lined the bazaar for decades. Their replacement with modern systems will enhance the look of the marketplace and create more space for shoppers and vendors.

Local leaders stress that this renovation will benefit both businesses and residents. By improving infrastructure, they expect to attract more customers, boost local trade, and increase investment opportunities. In addition, visitors will enjoy a cleaner and more organized space in the city center.

The project represents a step toward building a more vibrant and modern urban environment. Through this initiative, Duhok seeks to balance its heritage with new development that supports long-term growth.
