Erbil has unveiled a major new initiative to create a Grand Park that blends nature and Kurdish heritage. The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism is leading the effort and has announced a design competition for engineering firms.
This project aims to turn the park into a sustainable and cultural hub in the heart of Erbil. The ministry emphasized that the park will showcase the beauty of Kurdistan’s environment and culture. To achieve this, they are calling on both local and international design firms to submit creative proposals.
The competition is being organized by the ministry’s General Directorate of Urban Planning. All interested engineering firms must register in person to receive the program details and official participation rules.
The deadline for firms to collect these materials is August 20, 2025. The directorate will be available on working days from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
The top three winning designs will receive cash prizes, encouraging innovation and excellence. The ministry believes this approach will ensure the best concepts are selected.
Once completed, the Grand Park will become a landmark destination for residents and visitors. It will offer green space while honoring the traditions and identity of the Kurdish people.
