Health Ministry Warns Women About Breast Cancer Risks

The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health has issued a warning to women about breast cancer. It emphasized that early screening and diagnosis of breast cancer make treatment and recovery much easier.

Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers worldwide. Every year, October is dedicated to global awareness campaigns about this disease. Across the Kurdistan Region, many activities are organized to raise awareness and encourage early testing among women.

According to Chnar Sanjawi, head of cancer control at the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health, if breast cancer is detected early, 95% of patients can fully recover. She stressed that awareness and early testing are vital for saving lives and improving recovery rates.

In Erbil, a special center has been established for early breast cancer screening. The center provides services by 13 medical specialists, including seven surgeons and six ultrasound experts. These doctors examine women daily and offer appropriate treatment or medical advice when needed.

The Ministry continues to encourage all women to undergo regular checkups, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to ensure early detection and a better chance of full recovery.
