Kurdish-German politician Jian Omar praised the Kurdistan Region and called for greater Kurdish unity to protect Kurds in Syria. He made the remarks while addressing recent political and security developments affecting western Kurdistan.
Omar stressed that Kurdish unity remains essential during a period of growing pressure on Kurdish areas in Syria. He said divisions weaken Kurdish positions and increase risks for civilians. Therefore, he urged Kurdish political forces to coordinate their efforts and present a unified stance.
During his comments, Omar highlighted the role of President Masoud Barzani. He described Barzani as a key figure in mobilizing regional and international support for Kurds in western Kurdistan. He added that Barzani’s efforts helped draw attention to humanitarian and political challenges facing Kurdish communities.
Omar also praised the Kurdistan Region for maintaining stability despite regional turmoil. He said the region continues to play an important diplomatic role. In addition, he noted that Erbil remains a center for dialogue and coordination on Kurdish issues.
Furthermore, Omar emphasized the responsibility of European governments. He called on Germany and its partners to take Kurdish concerns seriously. He said international engagement must focus on protecting civilians and preventing further displacement.
Omar warned that instability in Syria threatens broader regional security. He argued that lasting solutions require political recognition and inclusive governance. At the same time, he stressed that Kurdish rights must remain central to any future arrangement.
He concluded by reaffirming support for peaceful solutions. He said unity, dialogue, and international cooperation offer the best path to protecting Kurds in Syria and ensuring long-term stability.
