Khamis al-Khanjar Criticizes Sykes-Picot and Pushes for Justice

At the MEPS 2025 forum, Khamis al-Khanjar spoke about historical and current challenges facing Kurdistan. He strongly criticized the Sykes-Picot agreement, arguing it harmed the region’s people. He called for justice for both Kurds and Palestinians, emphasizing the need to address long-standing grievances. Moreover, he stressed that returning displaced persons remains a priority for stability and reconciliation.

Al-Khanjar also highlighted his political plans for the new government. He confirmed that the Sovereignty Alliance will meet with the Kurdistan Democratic Party to discuss forming Iraq’s next federal administration. He argued that collaboration among political forces is essential for creating a service-oriented and accountable government. Additionally, he stressed that all actions must respect constitutional provisions and regional rights.

Furthermore, he emphasized that addressing historical injustices strengthens public trust. He argued that only by combining political dialogue with concrete solutions can lasting stability emerge. Al-Khanjar also urged leaders to focus on practical reforms rather than partisan disputes. He highlighted that unity and legal adherence will benefit citizens across Kurdistan and Iraq.
