KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Condemns Drone Strike on Peshmerga Home Near Erbil

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani strongly condemned a recent drone strike on a Peshmerga home near Erbil. The attack targeted a civilian residence and caused widespread concern.

In a statement, Masrour Barzani said he was “deeply saddened and aggrieved” by the incident. He also stressed that targeting civilians is unacceptable. “Targeting civilians and the homes of citizens is a war crime,” he said.

According to officials, the attack struck a residential area near Erbil. However, details about casualties or damage remain limited. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister called for accountability. He urged relevant authorities to investigate the incident and identify those responsible.

In addition, Barzani emphasized the importance of protecting civilians. He warned that such attacks threaten stability in the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, this incident comes amid rising security tensions. Several drone and missile attacks have been reported in recent weeks. As a result, concerns about civilian safety have increased.

Because of this, Kurdish officials are calling for stronger coordination with Government of Iraq. They also stress the need for immediate action to prevent further attacks.
