Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with Gwendolyn Green, the new U.S. Consul General in Erbil, and Steven Bitner, the former Consul General.
Talabani warmly welcomed Green and praised her arrival as an opportunity to further deepen bilateral cooperation. He also thanked Bitner for his dedicated service and his role in bringing Kurdish parties closer together during his tenure.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. In addition, the meeting covered key economic challenges. Talabani noted that restarting oil exports remains a priority, as it will help resolve salary and budget issues for public sector employees. He confirmed that negotiations are ongoing to reach a solution that benefits the people of Kurdistan.
