Kurdistan–Iran Trade Routes Set to Resume Amid Stabilization Efforts

Trade routes between the Kurdistan Region and Iran are expected to resume normal operations in the coming days, according to officials from the Region’s Import and Export Union.

Recent regional tensions temporarily disrupted commercial activity at several border crossings. However, authorities say coordination is underway to restore the movement of goods.

Officials confirmed that preparations are being made to allow trucks carrying imports and exports to cross the border again. They added that trade activity will gradually return to normal.

The Kurdistan Iran trade routes are considered vital for the region’s economy. A large share of goods in local markets enters through these crossings.

Key border points include Bashmakh in Sulaimani province, Parvizkhan in the Garmiyan administration, and Haji Omran in Erbil province. These routes handle significant volumes of trade between the Kurdistan Region and Iran.

Authorities say reopening the Kurdistan Iran trade routes will help stabilize markets and ensure a steady supply of goods.

Officials also said they are monitoring the situation closely to ensure trade continues without further disruption.
