Kurdistan: Nechirvan Barzani Meets Czech Envoy to Boost Cooperation

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed the new Czech Consul Lukáš Gjurič during a meeting that focused on strengthening long-standing ties. Barzani praised the Czech Republic for years of support to the Kurdistan Region and emphasized the importance of deeper cooperation in the coming period. Moreover, he reaffirmed his readiness to work closely with the new envoy to expand partnerships in multiple sectors.

Gjurič thanked President Barzani for the warm reception and highlighted his commitment to advancing strong relations with the Region. He also condemned the recent Khor Mor attack and expressed concern over threats targeting essential infrastructure. Additionally, he called for joint efforts to enhance security coordination and protect vital economic facilities.

Barzani and Gjurič discussed opportunities for broader collaboration in trade, investment, education, and culture. They noted that Czech companies show growing interest in the Kurdish market, and they explored ways to encourage more direct cooperation between institutions in both sides. Furthermore, they stressed that stable conditions in Kurdistan create promising ground for new economic projects.

The president also highlighted the value of international partnerships in supporting long-term development. He encouraged stronger engagement between European states and the Kurdistan Region, explaining that such cooperation contributes to regional stability and economic progress.

The meeting concluded with mutual pledges to expand dialogue and deepen cooperation. Both sides agreed that sustained collaboration benefits citizens and strengthens the overall relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the Czech Republic.
