Kurdistan Park Unveils Notable Sculptures

Recently, the city of Mabad in Kurdistan inaugurated a new cultural attraction. Specifically, “Mikail Park” now features statues of five renowned Kurdish figures. Consequently, this addition has greatly enhanced the park’s appeal for both tourists and local residents.

The statues stand near the park’s main entrance and the famous Red Bridge. Importantly, they honor the poets Hejar Mukriyani and Hemin Mukriyani alongside the musician Mohammad Mamle. Furthermore, the display includes statues of the poets Mela Saleh Heriq and Mela Marf Kokei.

Each individual made a significant impact on the Mukriyan region’s culture and literature. For instance, Heriq famously transferred the Babani school of poetry to Mukriyan over a century ago. Meanwhile, Mela Marf Kokei addressed people’s struggles through his own poetic works. Moreover, Mohammad Mamle created and preserved dozens of authentic Kurdish melodies. Additionally, Hejar and Hemin played vital roles in protecting and developing the Kurdish language.

Local residents have expressed immense pride in this project. One citizen stated that these figures deserve great respect and recognition. Another local hoped for more statues to honor other artists in the future. Ultimately, the Mabad municipality funded and commissioned the entire project. Three skilled sculptors from Sanandaj created the impressive statues.
