ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – PM Barzani has condemned a drone attack targeting the residence of President Nechirvan Barzani, calling for accountability and stronger action to protect the Kurdistan Region.
In a statement, Barzani described the attack as a serious escalation. He stressed that such actions threaten stability and cannot be tolerated. Moreover, he called on the Iraqi federal government to take responsibility. He urged Baghdad to act swiftly and prevent further attacks on the Kurdistan Region.
Barzani also emphasized the need to hold those responsible accountable. He said failure to act could encourage more threats and undermine security. In addition, the PM Barzani appealed to the international community. He stressed that global partners must support efforts to maintain stability and deter further aggression.
The drone attack targeted the president’s residence in Duhok. Authorities have launched an investigation, while security forces have increased their presence in the area. Furthermore, Barzani highlighted the importance of unity. He said cooperation among political forces remains essential during a period of rising tensions.
At the same time, he warned that continued attacks could escalate the situation. He stressed that coordinated efforts are necessary to avoid further instability. Officials across the Kurdistan Region have also condemned the incident. They have called for stronger coordination between Erbil and Baghdad to address security challenges.
Barzani reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the Kurdistan Region. He emphasized that decisive action, accountability, and international support remain key to ensuring stability.
