President Masoud Barzani inaugurated the Zakho International Book Fair, praising the city as his “heart and soul.” He described Zakho as a hub of culture, art, and courage, highlighting its long history of intellectual and creative achievement. The fair features 20,000 titles from 50 publishers across 10 countries, and it runs for six days.
During the opening ceremony, Barzani emphasized the role of literature in preserving Kurdish identity and heritage. Moreover, he praised the organizers for creating a platform that connects communities through books, knowledge, and dialogue.
Barzani also highlighted Zakho’s significance as a center for cultural exchange. Furthermore, he explained that hosting an international book fair strengthens ties with other nations and promotes understanding across borders.
