Kurdistan President Congratulates Academic on Receiving Russia’s Prestigious Pushkin Medal

Erbil — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Professor Rashad Miran for earning Russia’s highly respected Pushkin Medal, one of the nation’s most significant cultural honors. The President praised Miran for bringing pride to the Kurdish people through his academic excellence and international recognition.

Professor Miran made history as the first Kurd to receive the Pushkin Medal since its creation in 1999. He accepted the award during a special ceremony held at the Kremlin in Moscow, which coincided with Russia’s National Unity Day celebrations. Russian President Vladimir Putin personally presented the medal, recognizing Miran’s remarkable contributions to cultural exchange, education, and literature.

President Barzani highlighted that Miran’s achievement reflects the intellectual strength of the Kurdish nation. He said that Kurdish scholars continue to gain respect around the world through their dedication to knowledge, culture, and progress. The President also emphasized the importance of supporting Kurdish academics who represent the Kurdistan Region with distinction on the international stage.

Furthermore, Barzani stated that such recognition strengthens Kurdistan’s cultural presence globally. He noted that Miran’s award serves as an inspiration for young Kurds to pursue education, research, and creativity.

With this historic achievement, Professor Rashad Miran not only elevated his personal reputation but also brought honor and recognition to the entire Kurdish community.
