President Masoud Barzani delivered a powerful speech in Duhok, declaring his firm rejection of any form of dictatorship and reaffirming his commitment to democracy and coexistence. Speaking to a large audience, Barzani emphasized that the people of Kurdistan had sacrificed too much to accept authoritarianism again. He urged the public to protect their democratic values and national unity.
Barzani highlighted the important role of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in shaping Iraq’s political landscape. He stated that KDP candidates must represent not only the Kurdistan Region but also all of Iraq’s diverse communities. He explained that the party stands for equality, justice, and mutual respect among all ethnic and religious groups.
He stressed that unity remains the foundation of strength in the Kurdistan Region. According to Barzani, divisions only weaken the Kurdish cause and give space to those who oppose freedom and self-determination. He urged all citizens to remain vigilant and to participate actively in the upcoming elections.
Barzani also underlined the need for cooperation between Erbil and Baghdad, saying that fair partnerships bring stability and progress. He concluded by calling on the new generation to carry forward the values of freedom, tolerance, and respect that define Kurdistan’s identity.
