Kurdistan Region Company Leads in Armored Vehicle Production

A local company in the Kurdistan Region has become a leading producer of armored vehicles for military and civilian use. The firm represents a milestone in the region’s industrial and defense capabilities.

Anwar Saeed, owner of Anwar Atroshi Company SHIELD, said his company manufactures vehicles for security, defense, and diplomatic purposes. “We work on multiple types of vehicles. Besides military vehicles, we also armor civilian cars, especially for companies and consuls,” Saeed explained.

SHIELD has developed five armored vehicle models, starting with the Toyota Land Cruiser. Over time, the company expanded to produce military-grade vehicles recognized internationally. Saeed added, “We can build our vehicles in six months. All parts are made locally except for engines and tires, which come from Germany.”

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani personally praised SHIELD during his visit to the Zakho International Fair. He described the company’s work as “unprecedented” and assured full support for its efforts.

Established in 2014, SHIELD originally focused on vehicle maintenance and refurbishment. With a skilled technical team and years of experience, the company now manufactures both civilian and military armored vehicles. “Every year we launch a new model. Next year, we plan even better products,” Saeed said. He also noted that some vehicles have been deployed to support Peshmerga forces.

SHIELD operates under the Kurdistan Region Companies Registry and the Engineers Syndicate. The team consists of engineers and industrial experts specializing in vehicle manufacturing and armor technology.

With increasing production capacity and ongoing innovation, SHIELD is emerging as a leading defense manufacturer in the Kurdistan Region. The company contributes to regional security and industrial self-reliance, highlighting the potential of local engineering talent.
