ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Regional Government has restored electricity in Soran and Raparin following a temporary outage caused by a technical issue.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Electricity, the disruption occurred due to a fault in power transmission lines. As a result, electricity supply was cut across both administrations for a short period. Moreover, Ardawan Ibrahim explained that the issue originated from the Bazyan–Soran transmission line. This caused a general outage that lasted for about half an hour.
However, technical teams responded quickly. They managed to resolve the issue within 20 minutes and restore power بالكامل to affected areas. In addition, authorities confirmed that service has now returned to normal. Residents across Soran are once again receiving stable power.
Officials noted that around 90,000 subscribers rely on electricity services in the Soran administration. They added that power is currently supplied on a 24-hour basis across its six districts and surrounding areas. At the same time, the Ministry of Electricity emphasized ongoing efforts to prevent similar incidents. Technical teams continue to monitor the network and carry out maintenance work.
Kamal Mohammed recently stated that 85% of electricity subscribers in the Kurdistan Region now receive continuous 24-hour power. Therefore, officials say improving infrastructure remains a top priority. They aim to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity for all residents.
While the outage briefly disrupted services, the swift response helped restore stability. Authorities reaffirm their commitment to maintaining consistent power supply across the Region.
