Kurdistan Region Sets Mechanism to Release August Salaries Next Week

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has finalized arrangements to transfer August salaries next week. Officials confirmed that 120 billion IQD from domestic revenues will be allocated for public sector payrolls, ensuring timely payment to employees.

Following the distribution of July salaries to Kurdish officials, authorities quickly moved to process August wages. On Tuesday, after a meeting with Iraq’s Cabinet, three Kurdish ministers coordinated with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to approve the release of August salaries. The decision ensures that funds are ready for disbursement once Baghdad provides official authorization.

An official from the KRG Ministry of Finance and Economy stated that the 120 billion IQD has already been collected and prepared. Once Baghdad issues approval, the salaries will reach the Central Bank of Erbil within 24 to 48 hours. Employees can then access their funds promptly, supporting stability for families and public institutions across the Kurdistan Region.

It is important to note that transferring domestic revenues does not require an additional decision from the Council of Ministers. During last week’s meeting, Minister of Finance and Economy Awat Sheikh Janab confirmed that the funds for August salaries are ready to be sent to Baghdad, streamlining the payment process.

The KRG emphasized that this mechanism guarantees that government employees receive their wages on time, maintaining confidence in public administration and financial operations throughout the Region.
