President Masoud Barzani welcomed the new UAE Consul General, Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Shehhi, during a meeting in Erbil. Al-Shehhi conveyed warm greetings from the Emirati leadership and expressed strong appreciation for Barzani’s role in strengthening regional stability. Moreover, he praised the Kurdistan Region’s steady progress and highlighted its continuous reconstruction efforts. He also affirmed that the UAE intends to broaden strategic cooperation with Erbil in several key sectors.
Barzani thanked the consul general for the message from Abu Dhabi. He stressed that the Kurdistan Region values its relationship with the UAE. Furthermore, he said both sides benefit when they expand economic and political coordination. He also encouraged deeper dialogue that supports long-term development.
Al-Shehhi pointed to growing Emirati interest in investment opportunities across the Kurdistan Region. He noted that improved infrastructure, expanding markets, and rising tourism create strong potential for new projects. Moreover, he said Emirati companies seek stable environments that reward innovation and responsible management. He also emphasized that Erbil offers these conditions.
Barzani highlighted several areas for future cooperation. He mentioned renewable energy, agriculture, investment, and education. Furthermore, he encouraged the UAE to explore partnerships that support modernization and job creation.
