Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Deputy Leader Masrour Barzani energized supporters in Erbil, urging unity ahead of Iraq’s parliamentary elections.
Speaking at a campaign rally for KDP’s List 275, Barzani emphasized that Kurdistan’s strength depends on solidarity and active participation. “With your trust and votes, we will protect our rights and secure a stronger future,” he declared.
He praised KDP cadres for their dedication, noting their efforts will shape Kurdistan’s influence in Baghdad for the next four years. “Our candidates will represent the people and defend constitutional rights in the Iraqi Parliament,” he added.
Barzani stressed that the main political challenge lies in Baghdad, where opponents seek to hinder Kurdistan’s progress. He called on voters to ensure KDP maintains strong representation. “If we do not vote, others will decide for us, and those decisions may harm Kurdistan’s interests,” he warned.
The deputy leader reaffirmed KDP’s commitment to democracy, federalism, and protecting all communities, including Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen, and Christians. He highlighted the party’s record in safeguarding the region, advancing development, and honoring collective sacrifices—from Peshmerga fighters to public servants and farmers.
The rally marked the official launch of KDP’s campaign for Iraq’s sixth parliamentary elections. Senior leaders, including Masoud and Nechirvan Barzani, joined more than 7,000 supporters at Erbil’s Saad Abdullah Hall. List 275 features 30 candidates aiming to secure broad representation across Erbil, Sulaimani, Halabja, and Duhok.
Barzani concluded by urging continued unity and active participation. “Kurdistan’s strength comes from our solidarity and vision. Together, we will defend our rights and build a prosperous Kurdistan.”
