The Kurdistan Region has opened a new autism treatment center in Simele District. This center will expand services for more than 25 children in the area. It is part of a wider effort to improve care for children with autism across the Region.
The new facility offers diagnosis, therapy, and social integration programs. Families in Simele now have better access to professional care without traveling far. This center joins the Kurdistan Regional Government’s growing network of autism centers.
Currently, 43 autism centers operate across the Region. These centers support over 3,000 diagnosed children. The new location in Simele adds to this growing network, reflecting the government’s commitment to public health and education.
Officials explained that early diagnosis and treatment are essential for improving outcomes. The center’s team will include trained specialists, therapists, and educators. They will focus on helping children improve communication and life skills.
In addition, the center aims to support families and raise awareness in the community. Workshops and outreach programs will guide parents and caregivers. These efforts ensure children receive care both at the center and at home.
This expansion shows that the Region continues to prioritize mental health services. More centers are expected to open in the future to meet rising demand.
