Kurdistan Region PM Barzani met with a senior delegation from Bahrain during the World Economic Forum in Davos to discuss expanding bilateral ties and regional stability. The meeting focused on recent developments in Iraq, Syria, and broader Middle Eastern security.
PM Barzani emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region. He highlighted Kurdistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security, protect civilians, and foster economic and political cooperation with international partners. “We are committed to dialogue and collaboration as the best path to regional peace,” he said.
The Bahraini delegation expressed support for Kurdistan’s proactive role in promoting stability and regional coordination. They praised the Kurdistan Region’s contributions to security, counter-terrorism efforts, and humanitarian assistance for populations affected by conflict.
Discussions also centered on Syria, where recent clashes threaten civilians and increase regional tensions. Both sides stressed the urgent need for de-escalation, a comprehensive ceasefire, and peaceful conflict resolution. They agreed that dialogue must remain the primary mechanism for resolving disputes and achieving lasting stability.
In addition to security issues, the meeting explored avenues to expand economic, cultural, and diplomatic cooperation between Kurdistan and Bahrain. Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s investment opportunities and the benefits of stronger bilateral trade relations. The Bahraini delegation welcomed initiatives to enhance economic partnerships, emphasizing shared interests in technology, energy, and infrastructure projects.
Both parties agreed to strengthen communication channels and continue coordination on regional security matters. They also committed to engaging in joint efforts to promote political dialogue, counter extremism, and support displaced populations across conflict-affected areas.
Observers noted that the meeting reinforces Kurdistan’s role as a stable partner in the Middle East. It also highlights the region’s active diplomacy in fostering constructive relationships with Gulf states and other international actors.
