PM Barzani, Russian Ambassador Hold Talks to Deepen Bilateral Relations in Erbil

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with the Russian Ambassador to discuss ways to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region and Russia. The meeting took place in Erbil and covered a range of political and economic issues.

Both sides exchanged views on Iraq’s political situation and ongoing preparations for the November 11 parliamentary elections. They also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, energy, and investment, emphasizing the importance of mutual understanding and regional stability.

Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the Kurdistan Regional Government’s commitment to building constructive partnerships with global allies, including Russia. He underscored that collaboration in key sectors can bring long-term benefits for both sides.

The Russian Ambassador praised the KRG’s reform efforts and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to enhance cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties.

The meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism about continued dialogue and joint initiatives that support peace, stability, and economic growth in the region.
