PM Masrour Barzani met Central Bank of Iraq Governor Ali Al-Alaq to review banking reforms in Kurdistan Region following the launch of the e-Psûle digital payment platform. The meeting focused on strengthening financial systems and accelerating digital transformation.
At the outset, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani emphasized that banking reforms in Kurdistan Region remain a top government priority. He stated that the e-Psûle platform marks a major step toward modernizing public services and improving financial transparency. Moreover, he noted that digital systems will enhance efficiency and reduce administrative burdens on citizens.
Governor Ali Al-Alaq praised the Prime Minister’s vision for banking reforms in Kurdistan Region. He highlighted the importance of coordination between the Central Bank and the Kurdistan Regional Government. In addition, he reaffirmed the Central Bank’s full readiness to continue cooperation with relevant KRG institutions.
Both sides discussed mechanisms to unify digital payment systems and expand financial inclusion. They also reviewed regulatory frameworks that support secure electronic transactions. Furthermore, they agreed that modernization of banking infrastructure will strengthen economic stability.
Prime Minister Barzani stressed that reform efforts must serve citizens directly. Therefore, he called for continued collaboration to ensure sustainable progress. Meanwhile, Governor Al-Alaq expressed confidence that joint efforts will reinforce trust in the banking sector.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to deepen coordination and accelerate banking reforms in Kurdistan Region to support long-term economic development.
