The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, has expressed his condolences following the death of a Peshmerga fighter wounded in a recent missile attack.
The message was addressed to the family of Waisi Akhar Saeed Sherwani. He was one of the Peshmerga injured during an missile strike on positions in the Soran area. Sadly, he succumbed to his wounds after days of treatment.
In his statement, the Prime Minister conveyed deep sympathy to the martyr’s family and relatives. He described Sherwani as a brave Peshmerga who sacrificed his life in defense of the Kurdistan Region. Masrour Barzani emphasized the pain shared by all people of Kurdistan. He noted that such losses affect not only families but also the wider community. Therefore, he called for unity and resilience during difficult times.
He also prayed for the soul of the fallen fighter. In addition, he asked for patience and strength for his family, friends, and fellow Peshmerga. Earlier, Sherwani had been seriously injured during an Iranian missile attack targeting Peshmerga forces in Soran. Although he received medical care, his condition worsened. As a result, he passed away, becoming one of the victims of the attack.
Officials in the Kurdistan Region have strongly condemned such attacks. They continue to call for greater protection of civilians and security forces. Furthermore, they stress the need for accountability to prevent future incidents.
