Prime Minister Masrour Barzani inaugurated the Gomaspan–Smaqoli road, a key project connecting the governorates of Erbil and Sulaimani. The 210-billion-dinar investment marks a major achievement in the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ongoing plan to modernize infrastructure and strengthen regional connectivity.
During the ceremony, Barzani highlighted the project’s importance in improving transportation, supporting economic growth, and boosting tourism across the Kurdistan Region. He noted that better infrastructure creates new opportunities for trade, investment, and social development while improving daily life for citizens.
The newly opened road reduces travel time between major cities and enhances access to rural communities. It also supports logistics and agriculture by providing safer, faster routes for goods and travelers. Officials stated that the project reflects the government’s commitment to balanced development and long-term regional planning.
Barzani praised the engineers, workers, and local companies involved in completing the project, emphasizing that such initiatives strengthen unity and cooperation across the region.
The Gomaspan–Smaqoli road stands as a milestone in the KRG’s strategy to build modern, reliable infrastructure and promote sustainable regional growth.
