President Masoud Barzani held talks with US Special Envoy Tom Barrack regarding the ongoing situation in Syria. The discussions focused on maintaining the ceasefire and delivering humanitarian assistance to affected areas.
Barrack said the meeting highlighted the importance of protecting civilians, particularly in Kobani, where ongoing tensions have caused severe displacement.
Officials reported that both sides reviewed current security developments in northern Syria. They emphasized coordination between international partners and local authorities to ensure aid reaches those most in need.
The conversation also addressed mechanisms to uphold the ceasefire agreement and prevent further escalations in conflict zones. President Barzani reiterated the KRG’s commitment to supporting affected communities in Western Kurdistan.
Barrack added that the United States continues to monitor the situation closely and is prepared to assist with humanitarian operations. Both leaders agreed on the need for urgent and coordinated responses to address medical, food, and shelter shortages.
Authorities noted that ongoing cooperation between the KRG and international partners is vital for regional stability. They stressed that protecting civilians must remain a top priority.
The discussions concluded with a commitment to maintain dialogue and implement practical measures for security and humanitarian relief. President Barzani and Barrack agreed to continue close coordination in the coming days.
