President Nechirvan Barzani has welcomed the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces. He described the deal as an important step toward stability in Syria.
In a statement, he said dialogue offers the only realistic path forward. Therefore, he urged all sides to avoid escalation and confrontation.
Moreover, President Barzani stressed that political solutions remain essential. He noted that military approaches have repeatedly failed across the region.
At the same time, he highlighted the need to protect all communities. In particular, he emphasized the rights of Kurds within Syria’s future political framework.
Furthermore, President Barzani said any settlement must include constitutional guarantees. Consequently, equal citizenship must apply to Kurds and other groups alike.
Meanwhile, he warned that continued violence could deepen instability. As a result, extremist groups could exploit security gaps once again.
Additionally, he said regional insecurity threatens neighboring countries. Therefore, cooperation remains vital for long-term peace.
President Barzani also called on international actors to support calm. Likewise, he urged them to encourage constructive dialogue.
In addition, he said all parties must respect the agreement’s terms. Otherwise, trust between stakeholders could weaken.
Notably, the agreement comes during heightened tensions in northern Syria. Meanwhile, humanitarian conditions remain fragile in several areas.
Accordingly, President Barzani said implementation matters as much as commitment. He stressed responsibility from every side.
Finally, he reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s support for peaceful initiatives. Ultimately, he expressed hope for broader negotiations and lasting stability.
