President Nechirvan Barzani has officially declared Bardqaraman a new sub-district within Sulaimani Province, marking another step toward strengthening local governance and service delivery in the region.
According to a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency, Bardqaraman will now operate under the administration of Baziyan District. The decree, which takes immediate effect, aims to improve public services and streamline local administrative management.
The decision was made under Article 10 of the Kurdistan Region Presidency Law No. 1 of 2005, which authorizes the president to establish new administrative units to enhance regional organization and development.
This move reflects the presidency’s broader efforts to expand administrative capacity and respond to population growth across key areas of the Kurdistan Region.
Last year, President Barzani also approved the creation of three new sub-districts in Duhok Province—Sharia, Miserik, and Tanahi—further demonstrating the government’s commitment to balanced regional development and improved public access to services.
