ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – President Nechirvan Barzani has extended his Easter greetings to Christian communities in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and around the world, expressing hope for peace and happiness.
In his official message marking Easter, Nechirvan Barzani wished that the occasion would bring joy, and tranquility to all. He emphasized the importance of the holiday as a time of renewal and reflection.
Moreover, he reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Region remains a homeland of coexistence and tolerance. He stated that it will continue to serve as a place where all religious and ethnic communities live together in harmony.
In addition, Barzani highlighted the role of Christian citizens in Kurdistan. He described them as an authentic and inseparable part of society, with a long history of struggle and shared experience alongside the Kurdish people.
He stressed that diversity is a source of strength for the Region. He noted that mutual respect and acceptance form the foundation of stability and unity.
At the same time, Barzani expressed his hope that all communities would celebrate the holiday in peace. He wished everyone a joyful holiday and a period of rest and comfort.
Easter holds deep significance for Christians. It comes after a 50-day fasting period and commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ following his crucifixion. It is also considered one of the most important religious celebrations in Christianity.
