Rain and Snowfall Expected Across Kurdistan

According to weather forecasts, rain is expected to begin across the Kurdistan Region after noon on Sunday. In mountainous areas, snowfall is also likely, particularly in higher elevations.

Meteorologist and weather presenter, explained that rain will start in cities like Zakho, Soran, and Duhok after midday. He added that snow may fall in several mountainous districts, affecting northern and central parts of the region.

The meteorologist noted that early indicators in the ninth month suggested cooler temperatures and approaching weather fronts from the northern Black Sea. These fronts have now brought rainfall to northern Kurdistan, and snow has appeared in higher altitudes.

Meanwhile, Iraq’s meteorology and seismology department confirmed that the first rain showers of the season will appear in northern Iraq on Sunday. Rainfall is expected to vary in intensity across different areas, appearing as light showers in some regions and heavier rain in others.

This early weather event marks the official start of the rainy season in the Kurdistan Region. Authorities and residents are advised to prepare for wet conditions and potential snow in mountainous areas, which may impact travel and daily activities.

The onset of rain and snow signals the transition to colder autumn weather and highlights the importance of monitoring forecasts for safety and planning purposes.
