Russia has revealed plans to launch a new cancer vaccine designed to target tumors on a genetic level. Authorities expect the first patient to receive the treatment in the near future.
The vaccine comes from the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. Researchers there have developed an advanced method using engineered fat droplets to deliver cancer-fighting agents directly into the body.
Unlike traditional vaccines, this one is fully personalized. Each dose is built using the patient’s unique genetic data. This allows the vaccine to recognize and destroy only the cancer cells while leaving healthy tissue untouched.
Clinical trials are scheduled to begin in the next few months. These trials will test both the safety and the potential success of the vaccine on cancer patients.
Researchers began working on this breakthrough in mid-2022. So far, early lab results look promising. Scientists hope this new approach will reshape how cancer is treated, offering new hope to millions.
Data from Russia’s Ministry of Health shows that about four million people in the country are living with cancer. Every year, around 625,000 new cancer cases are reported.
