Soran Municipality announced plans to build nine new parks in different neighborhoods to increase green spaces and enhance the city’s appearance. The initiative aims to make Soran more beautiful, livable, and environmentally friendly for residents.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism approved the project, which has a budget of 620 million Iraqi dinars. The funding comes from 15% of Soran’s municipal revenues and supports eleven related projects, including park construction, irrigation systems, and urban beautification.
Mayor Bijar Saeed stated that construction work has already started. He added that most projects will be completed within a month. The nine parks will feature modern irrigation systems for public gardens and improvements to several key areas across the city.
The new parks will be located in the neighborhoods of Gerekka, Kani, Bakhtiari, Shaheedani Azadi, Korak, Qandil, Wasta Rajab, Raparin, Jundian 2, and Saruchawa. The municipality will also improve street lighting, benches, and walking paths to make the parks more accessible and family-friendly.
Officials highlighted that the parks will provide safe and healthy recreational spaces, encourage outdoor activities, and contribute to the city’s overall green coverage. The project reflects Soran Municipality’s commitment to sustainable urban development and enhancing residents’ quality of life.
Residents are encouraged to visit the new parks once completed and participate in maintaining public spaces for a cleaner and greener Soran.
