Soran Nears Completion of Key Road Project

A major infrastructure project in the Iraqi town of Soran is now 80% finished. This 30-meter-wide dual carriageway aims to ease traffic and transform the city into a modern commercial center.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) launched this project as part of its broader development plan for the Soran Independent Administration. Since gaining self-governing status in 2021, Soran has attracted more focus due to its key location near the Haji Omaran border with Iran. Moreover, its proximity to major tourist spots like Gali Ali Bag and Bekhal waterfalls adds to its strategic importance.

Construction is ahead of schedule, thanks to strong logistical and human resources. The Kavin Group company oversees the work and is expected to finish well within the planned 700 days.

Project manager Kaniwar Jubrail shared updates on the scope of work. The first phase has a budget of over nine billion dinars. It includes asphalting 30,000 square meters, relocating drinking water pipes, and installing sidewalks and drainage systems.

The modern road features three lanes in each direction, offering a smooth flow for vehicles. Local residents have praised the development. Zryan Taha expressed relief over the reduced traffic congestion. Another resident, Qaytaran Ahmed, highlighted the project’s speed and efficiency.

This road is not only solving traffic issues but also laying the foundation for a new commercial district. Officials plan to build a modern market that will reshape Soran’s urban environment. With this transformation, the city will reach a new level in both commerce and construction.
