Sulaymaniyah Film Festival Begins

The fifth Sulaymaniyah International Film Festival started. This important cultural event runs from October 9th to October 16th. Significantly, the festival adopts the powerful theme “Kurdish Culture and Mother Tongue.” Furthermore, organizers expect around 250 international guests. These guests will come from various Arab and regional countries.

Moreover, the festival will showcase a diverse selection of films. This year, programmers received many submissions. However, only 150 films reached the final screening stage. These films will compete for prestigious awards. Additionally, the event will screen several special films. These particular films already enjoy global acclaim.

Festival director Fuad Jalal emphasized the event’s dual focus. He specifically highlighted Kurdish culture. He also stressed the importance of mother languages. Consequently, these two elements form the core theme. The festival will host five academic panels as well. These panels will offer deep educational value. Therefore, attendees can enjoy both artistic and intellectual activities.

Dlshad Mustafa heads the local film competition jury. He leads the committee choosing the best domestic film. He confirmed the robust academic schedule. The panels will cover various cinematic topics. Ultimately, they will enrich the festival experience.

In total, ninety-five films will compete for nineteen awards. These awards span four main categories. The festival promises a vibrant celebration of cinema. It will undoubtedly boost Kurdistan’s cultural profile.
