Over the next 48 hours, several cities in the Kurdistan Region will see temperatures drop by one to two degrees. Haji Omran will be the coolest area with 31°C, while Kirkuk and Garmian will record the highest temperatures, ranging between 44°C and 45°C.
The General Directorate of Meteorology and Seismology in the Kurdistan Region confirmed this forecast today. Officials explained that a northwesterly wind, moving at 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, will slightly cool the region. Because of this change, residents can expect temperatures to be a bit lower than in recent days.
Meteorology expert Sheikh Dara emphasized that the region’s heat will not reach extreme levels similar to the central and southern parts of the country. He dismissed earlier claims suggesting that Kurdistan cities would approach half of boiling point temperatures.
Forecast details for the next 48 hours include:
Erbil – 44°C
Sulaymaniyah – 41°C
Duhok – 42°C
Kirkuk – 45°C
Zakho – 43°C
Halabja – 42°C
Soran – 40°C
Haji Omran – 31°C
Garmian – 44°C
With these changes, residents should still prepare for warm conditions, but enjoy a slight relief from the recent heat wave.
