UAE Says Two Security Personnel Injured in Attack on Consulate in Erbil

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The United Arab Emirates has confirmed that two security personnel were injured in a drone attack targeting its consulate in Erbil.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a “cowardly terrorist attack.” Officials said the strike was carried out using an explosive drone against the diplomatic facility in the Kurdistan Region’s capital.

In addition, The ministry said the two injured security personnel received medical treatment after the attack. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

UAE officials strongly condemned the assault. They stressed that attacks on diplomatic missions are a serious violation of international law and diplomatic norms.

The statement also reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to protecting its diplomatic personnel and facilities abroad. Officials said the country will continue to work closely with Iraqi and Kurdistan Region authorities to ensure the safety of its missions.

Authorities in the Kurdistan Region have launched an investigation into the incident. Security forces are reviewing surveillance and other evidence to determine who was responsible for the attack.

The drone strike on the UAE consulate has drawn widespread condemnation from several regional and international actors. Many governments have called for stronger measures to protect diplomatic facilities and prevent further escalation.

Officials say security around diplomatic missions in Erbil has been reinforced following the attack. Authorities are also continuing efforts to identify those behind the incident and hold them accountable.
