Gold Prices Vary Across Iraq, With Higher Rates in Erbil

According to a recent survey, gold prices on Baghdad’s Al-Nahr Street — one of the city’s main gold trading hubs — showed slight differences depending on the origin and type of gold.

For 21-carat gold (Gulf, Turkish, and European varieties), the selling price was 642,000 IQD per mithqal (five grams), with a buying price of 638,000 IQD.
Iraqi 21-carat gold was slightly cheaper, selling at 612,000 IQD and bought at 608,000 IQD.

In Baghdad jewelry stores, prices were a bit higher:

  • Gulf 21-carat gold sold between 645,000–655,000 IQD
  • Iraqi 21-carat gold ranged from 615,000–620,000 IQD

Meanwhile, in Erbil, prices were noticeably higher across all types:

  • 24-carat gold: 748,000 IQD
  • 22-carat gold: 686,000 IQD
  • 21-carat gold: 655,000 IQD
  • 18-carat gold: 560,000 IQD

The differences reflect both regional pricing trends and consumer preferences across Iraq’s cities.
