Barzani and UN Official Discuss Rights and Stability in Kurdistan Region

Erbil – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with the United Nations Special Representative to discuss ongoing cooperation and urgent priorities in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, Barzani strongly emphasized the need to protect the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Regional Government. He also demanded that financial entitlements owed to the region be paid without delay. According to Barzani, economic fairness remains vital for maintaining stability across all parts of the Kurdistan Region.

Moreover, the Prime Minister highlighted the repeated attacks on the region’s energy infrastructure. He urged immediate steps to stop such terrorist acts and insisted that the responsible individuals must face justice. These attacks, he warned, pose a serious threat to both the economy and daily life in Kurdistani cities.

In response, the UN Special Representative reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to supporting the Kurdistan Region through its work and mission. Both sides agreed that mutual cooperation remains crucial for ensuring long-term peace and progress.

The discussion also covered several areas of joint interest, including governance, regional security, and development programs. Both leaders underlined the importance of transparency and accountability in implementing agreements and resolving disputes.

The meeting ended with a shared commitment to future dialogue and coordinated efforts for the benefit of the region’s people.
