World-renowned artist Sami Yusuf recently made a special request. He publicly invited Peyam Azizi, a celebrated artist from Iranian Kurdistan, to join him on stage. Yusuf extended this invitation during a major concert in Istanbul. Over twenty-five thousand people attended the event at Festival Park Yenikapı.
The concert was part of the ‘ECSTASY: Between Two Seas’ cultural festival. Before performing, Yusuf warmly greeted Azizi on stage. He then kissed Azizi’s forehead and cheek with great respect. Furthermore, Yusuf asked Azizi to perform the song “Ya Rasoolallah, Ya Sha-e Medina” with him.
Following this performance, Yusuf proposed a future collaboration. He specifically asked Azizi to perform a Kurdish duet with him at an upcoming concert. Azizi confirmed the invitation officially. He stated that he attended as Yusuf’s formal guest. Additionally, Azizi expressed his honor and excitement about the future duet.
Both artists have collaborated before. Their previous performance of “Ya Rasoolallah” achieved massive global popularity. Sami Yusuf is an iconic figure in Islamic music worldwide. Meanwhile, Peyam Azizi is highly respected in Sufi and Irfan music throughout Iranian Kurdistan and Iran.
