Kurdish Artist Exhibits Himalayan Journey

A dedicated artist recently showcased his powerful work in Kurdistan. Nêjad Kêkez spent twenty-three days trekking through the Tian Shan mountains in Central Asia three years ago. He then transformed his stunning experiences into a collection of forty-two paintings. Furthermore, he exhibited these artworks for ten days for the people of Kurdistan to see.

Kêkez expressed a specific artistic mission. He stated that seeing the Himalayas inspired him to travel to Kurdistan. He wanted to capture those scenes on canvas. He wished to share them with the Kurdish people. The Himalayan mountain range possesses a unique beauty. Its high altitude creates a life very different from life here. The artist found the people’s resilience fascinating. He desired to blend this inspiring art with his own Kurdish artistic style.

Each painting vividly tells a story. Viewers immediately notice a mountaineer struggling against harsh, cold conditions. This creates a strong sense of empathy. The audience can easily imagine themselves within that difficult environment.

One visitor, Rûnak Be Şîr, shared his deep impressions. He found the paintings incredibly diverse and skillfully made. They effectively narrate the story of the Himalayas. He himself may never have the chance to travel there. However, the artwork made him feel as if he had visited. He experienced the local people and their needs through the art. The artist successfully transferred his travel experience onto the canvas for everyone to share.

The exhibition featured a blend of realism and expressionism. This collection represents seventeen years of the artist’s professional work. It profoundly reflects his personal thoughts and deep feelings.
