The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers, led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, held its regular meeting to discuss financial coordination with Baghdad, non-oil revenues, and ongoing oil export agreements. Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and senior ministers attended the session, which focused on improving fiscal stability and ensuring public sector salaries are paid on time.
Prime Minister Barzani opened the meeting by stressing the importance of conducting the upcoming parliamentary elections in a civil, transparent, and lawful way. He expressed his support for Kurdish candidates who uphold the Kurdistan Region’s constitutional rights within Iraq’s political system.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy presented a detailed financial report that covered revenues, expenditures, and salary obligations for the coming months. The report, explained by the Director General of Accounting, outlined ongoing challenges in securing funds for salary disbursements. Finance Minister Awat Janab Noori and Cabinet Secretary Amanj Raheem both underscored the importance of financial coordination between Erbil and Baghdad.
Following discussions, the Council decided to transfer all non-oil revenues to the federal treasury, reinforcing its commitment to the constitutional framework. The ministers also called on Baghdad to direct the Iraqi Ministry of Finance to immediately release the Kurdistan Region’s salary payments.
Prime Minister Barzani reaffirmed that the KRG remains committed to cooperation and transparency under the tripartite oil export agreement. The agreement—signed between Erbil, Baghdad, and international partners—aims to restore oil exports through the Iraq–Turkey pipeline and stabilize revenue streams for both governments.
Earlier, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani announced that the accord followed months of negotiation with international oil companies and the KRG. Barzani described the deal as a key breakthrough that would reopen the flow of Kurdish oil and strengthen economic ties.
The Council of Ministers concluded by emphasizing that fiscal collaboration and mutual trust remain vital for regional stability. The KRG reiterated its willingness to engage in ongoing dialogue with Baghdad to resolve budgetary issues and protect the financial rights of public employees.
