Erbil Launches Seventh Phase of Land Distribution for Government Employees

The Erbil Municipality will start a new phase of land distribution for public employees on Thursday. Officials plan to allocate 3,400 residential plots in this stage of the program.

This initiative continues one of the largest housing projects for government workers in the Kurdistan Region. It focuses on providing land to employees and salary earners living in the city center.

Karzan Hadi, the head of Erbil Municipality, said the seventh phase will deliver 3,400 plots to eligible workers. He explained that the municipality wants to improve living conditions for public employees through gradual land allocation.

After this phase, the total number of distributed plots for city-center employees will reach 42,000. Earlier stages already provided 38,400 plots to eligible beneficiaries.

However, around 40,000 employees in the city center still wait for land allocation. The municipality says it will continue the program until it covers all eligible applicants.

Officials confirmed that the new plots will be located in the same designated areas used in previous phases. They also said these areas follow the city’s master housing plan for residential development.

The master plan guides urban expansion and organizes housing zones across Erbil. It also ensures basic infrastructure in new residential districts.

Municipal authorities say the project aims to reduce housing pressure on government employees. They also stress that the program supports long-term urban planning and controlled city growth.

The land distribution program remains one of the key housing initiatives in Erbil. Officials expect it to continue in future phases as demand from public employees remains high.
