Over 1,500 Schools in Kurdistan Region to Function as Polling Centers

More than 1,500 schools across the Kurdistan Region will operate as polling centers during the upcoming parliamentary elections, local officials announced.

The decision aims to ensure broad voter participation and provide easy access for citizens in both urban and rural areas. Education and election authorities are working closely to prepare the schools and guarantee a smooth voting process.

According to officials, security and logistical teams have already begun inspecting the selected locations to ensure proper organization, accessibility, and voter safety. Each polling center will include facilities for people with disabilities and will follow transparent procedures to uphold fairness during the election.

The use of schools as polling centers has become a well-established practice in the Kurdistan Region, helping reduce costs and simplify logistics. Additionally, the move highlights cooperation between the education sector and electoral bodies in supporting democratic engagement.

Authorities expect a high voter turnout this year, reflecting growing political participation and public interest in shaping the region’s future.
