Ilam Poet Jalil Safar Beigi Publishes First Kurdish Poetry Collection, Khawlwan

Dar Bashur Publishing in Ilam has released Khawlwan (Dream Trainer), the first Kurdish poetry collection by Jalil Safar Beigi, marking what many describe as a new chapter in Kurdish literature.

Beigi, born in Ilam on February 3, 1975, holds a degree in mathematics and has authored more than 30 works in poetry, translation, and literary research. His latest 209-page collection includes 171 poems written in two classic forms: the ghazal, exploring themes of love and longing, and the quatrain, known for its concise and emotional depth.

Literary critics in Ilam praised the collection as a powerful revival of modern Kurdish poetry. They noted that Beigi’s verses express a “deep devotion to the Kurdish language and identity,” capturing the essence of Kurdish culture through vivid imagery and authentic emotion.

Dar Bashur Publishing described Khawlwan as “a bridge connecting readers to the enduring spirit of Kurdish heritage,” celebrating the creative strength of Kurdish writers despite ongoing challenges.

Writers in Iran’s Kurdish regions continue to face difficulties in publishing, limited access to literary resources, and restrictions on Kurdish-language education. Nevertheless, Beigi’s new collection stands as a symbol of resilience and the growing vitality of Kurdish literature in Ilam and beyond.
