Erbil – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani stepped in to save Sulaimani’s Newroz Sports Club from financial collapse by donating 450 million dinars. The club, one of the Kurdistan Region’s leading teams in the Iraq Stars League, had been facing serious financial difficulties in recent months.
Government sources confirmed that the donation aims to stabilize the club’s finances and allow it to continue participating in the national league without disruption. The contribution also reflects the Prime Minister’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth and sports development across the Kurdistan Region.
Newroz SC officials expressed their deep gratitude for the timely support, noting that the funds will cover urgent expenses, including player salaries, training programs, and travel costs for upcoming matches.
Local fans in Sulaimani welcomed the move, describing it as a major morale boost for both the club and the city’s sports community. They said the gesture proves that the Kurdistan Regional Government values sports as a unifying force and an essential part of Kurdistan’s cultural and social life.
